Are 84 rims the same as 86 rims?

NO They are not the same - similar in appearance but different! Will fit though!

Joby did the C4 wheel info many years ago!

The 84 had black painted centers. The 86 was not painted.

Almost? I'd say NOT - '86 was a different manufacturer also. That's noted also on Joby's information. Visually yes a quick glance the center recess.
