I think I know the answer already but maybe somebody out there has a magical cure. I purchased new leather seat replacements for my 90 from a company called John's Corvette Seat Covers in Dearborn,Michigan. They looked good and fit perfectly however after about two weeks later I noticed that the red was coming off exposing the gray dyed leather beneath it. I soon realized that the seats were gray seats that John had painted or dyed red. Well John is out of business and I'm stuck with $500 worth of two tone seats and blue/red jeans haha. I think my only solution is to buy another set from a reliable outfit and trash these, does anyone have a better thought?
Sounds like you got screwed without being kissed!!! I recommend you contact John, the owner of Leatherique. He is Vette owner and sells some darn good products. Here is the web site: http://www.leatherique.com/. Give John all the details and see what he can do for you! Good luck with this mess. By the way, I have used Leatherique products on my black interior and they look great. However, I did not change colors.
Personally I would go to several local car upholstery shops and see what their prices are like. Any leather can be dyed properly, after all, most of it is dyed to begin with from the factory.
wow, I talked to him a few times about seats for my 92.
He seemed like a nice guy and a reputable character.
Sorry about your seats, I hope you get them situated soon.
Personally, i think the painting/dying is just a temp fix solution.
I would see if you could get a good deal on some leather pieces or have them redye the seats professionally so it dosen't come off on your jeans.
