Default Headlight issues

Hi

Can anyone help with the issue I am having with the headlights on my 1989 C4.

I was originally have issues that the headlights only popped up when i moved the headlight switch to head and they were set to main beam, i replaced the headlight control unit and all was fine, apart from if i moved the switch from head back to park, the headlights fully retracted, rather that staying one, but with the headlights off.

then i had a situation that when I switched the headlights to head, they opened and immediately closed again, and refused to work at all, apart from the fogs and sidelights.

I replaced the headlight switch today, and everything was working again, then it did it again and the headlight closed themselves even with the switched on, however if I put them on main beam they would reopen and work, but would close again when switched back to dip beam.

I can hear clicking from the dashboard where the headlight switch is, the headlight switch is new as is the control module, albeit it didn't operate as prescribed in the gm service manual.

Could it be that the control module could be faulty, or the new headlight switch be faulty, or potentially both, obviously I was concerned that they did not operate as they should.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Glad to say all is now resolved, ended up being both the headlight switch and dimmer switch being faulty, along with the control module not operating as it should, I must admit, I never want to fit another dimmer switch again, what a nightmare, the headlight switch was relatively easy, and whilst I has the dash apart too the opportunity to fit new LED bulbs to the console, what a difference. Got them from BATEE.com, highly recommended.
