I have a 95 standard engine no modifications. The engine has 83,000 miles on it. when I come to a stop and the car is in drive. once in a while I feel like a skip is occurring. It actually is like a small shutter that the car does.
I also can
get a rubber burning smell coming from the engine when the car sits in the garage.
so is the serpentine belt skipping on one of the pulleys? I have watched the engine run looking at the serpentine belt and cannot notice anything funny.
I guess to check the belt tensioner I need to remove the belt. The car is an automatic and does not do it as downshifting. It is when at idle in Park or Drive.
Is it just a random hard miss like someone shut the key on/off real quick?
Have you pressure checked the cooling system? It could be anything from a dirtyTB, old plug wire etc
What area are you in theres tons of members who can help or know of someone reputable who knows these cars.
Dont think this one can be web diagnosed
I live in a SW suburb of Chicago near Oswego, IL. I have replaced the radiator cap as I noticed some minute leaking. Still can skip. It is random and may not do it during a red light or may do it 2-3 times. Do not notice anything while applying the gas pedal. I'm trying not to take it to a shop as who knows who will work on it and make a further mess of things.
I was suppose to take it to a shop as the seller was going to pay to fix a window switch but had had a previous bad experience with them installing wiper blades as it was needed and I was out of town.
Any help would be appreciated that's for sure as I do not want to throw a belt.
It does not feel like shutting the key off. Have not pressure checked the system. Have replace the radiator cap as I saw some small residue leakage.
I live inn the SW suburbs of Chicago near Oswego, IL. The spark plug wires are not original. I bought the car 3 months ago with 81,200 miles. I do not notice it while accelerating with it or coasting to a stop as I am not hard on brakes.

It is a random skip. Have not pressure checked cooling but installed new cap. Wires and plugs appear to be newer. I bought the car 3 months ago with 81,200 miles. I live in the SW suburb of Chicago near Oswego, IL.
A similar issue w/ my 95 LT1 and a "no problem found" from a Corvette mechanic prompted me to invest in a scanner - one of the BEST investments I ever made! In my case, one of the stock Bosch O2s had gone bad. The scanner showed the issue.
An OBD-I scan will provide a multitude of data, e.g., BLMs, O2 sensors, timing, etc.
In the mean time, have you checked the plugs for condition, and do you have any LEAN or RICH indications? (whitish = lean, black/sooty = rich or not sparking.
Plug wire resistance and connections and wire condition checked OK?
Acquire a scanner OR have it scanned (95s are OBD-I, tho they have the OBD-II connector under the hush panel, directly beneath the steering column.)
