My 89 doesn't have the boise speakers in it anymore and the speakers in it now just don't sound good at all.To have radio loud enough to hear it the speakers are distorting badly.
What are some good speakers besides boise?I would go with boise but then again I don't want to spend 5oo bucks a speaker if I don't have to.
lets see... jensen head unit and you wonder why there is distortion?
I hate to be a smart azz, but its the sad truth.
They are just not very good heads... you could buy an amp, but the signal is still going to be questionable. and, the head may not even have RCA outputs.
I would advise you spend the money and invest in a nice Alpine head unit. There are a couple of nice ones in the $300.00 area that will sound great right from the box, without having to deal with an amp and the associated installation issues.
I would also recommend the Polk Audio GRX series speakers. Nice sound - GREAT price. They are a plastic coated paper cone, very warm. Not going to win any sound offs, but very nice for the budget minded.
Well the one thing I really like about the forum is you ask a question and you will hear it like it is.I had heard over the years Jensen was a good product but I never had one to really know.I have found out that alotof the time the poor sound isn't the speakers but rather the radio itself is poor quality.I appreciate the heads up about the Jensen.
I have flow masters and my 89 is a vert so I do have some noise to get over but heck I had riden a Goldwing with a helmet at 60 mph couldn't believe how great the sound system they have on wings is.And the wings speakers are really pretty small but they have great clarity. So I am sure their is a system that will sound good in my vette.I just need some input as what to look for.
Thanks for the input and wave on! \ ////
I have a Pioneer head unit, MB Quart 4" components in the front, Infinity Kappa 6x9s in the rear, and a RF Punch 400 pushing them. Here are some pics of the install and finished product: http://www.printroom.com/ViewAlbum.a...lbum_id=103403
"The sound?" you may ask. Awesome! Very Very Awesome!
