I recently purchased a 1995 Corvette. I was provided the original keyless remote, but it does not work. I have been trying to locate another one, but as I discovered they are not made any longer. Does anyone know of a company producing an after market remote that would be compatible with the C4? Or any used ones available? Or repair the one I have?
Are you sure the PKE system is working in your car? When you turn the key to the on position the PKE light should light up. If it doesn't your PKE system is not operating.
First thing to do is determine if the module in the car is working. Perform the matching procedure in the owners manual. If the light doesn't start flashing in step 5 you need to resolve that. If it does flash try to pair up the fob by proceeding through the rest o the steps. Make sure you have a fresh battery installed in the fob.
Before you try this, read the entire section on the PKE so you know what to expect. In case you don't have an owners manual, here's one.
You probably already checked, but just in case : Have you checked the battery in the remote? Did you also check to make sure the battery terminals in the remote aren't corroded?
You could try contacting Bree, she was one of the engineers who developed the PKE system. She used to rebuild fobs for a minor fee. I'm not sure if she still does, but can't hurt to ask.
I have one from a 96 Coupe I bought from a guy who sold his 96. I don't know if it works because when I went to program it I found out my PKE module wasn't working. I will sell it for $150. If you check prices you will find they are selling for 300 - 400 dollars. You have to pull the top of your dash off to get to the PKE module and I'm not willing to do that on mine since it doesn't rattle and I don't want to mess with it.
