Default Reverse lockout ring sticking?

My ZF6 reverse lock out is getting very very hard to pull up. I sprayed some silicone down there and it helped for a little bit but now it is very hard to pull up again. I do not want to remove the lockout completely.

Has anyone ever had this? Any tips on how to fix this or what needs to be replaced? I looked through the FSM but couldn't find anything about service of the lockout mechanism.

edit : its not the ring itself, its the rod that is hard to pull up.

If the 'lift ring' is split or the female threads failing on the ring and set screw not securing the rod, you might interpret that as a 'rod issue' but in fact a lift ring. The GM # 10079757 is still available from dealers I believe or a 'reseller'. I'd start there. Have you removed the **** and actually inspected the ring? It's very easy I believe to strip the female threads of the ring.

Hmm the ring actually is slightly cracked where the threads are. You think that could be the culprit?

if its cracked you can over tighten the set screw which will cause the collar to split open just a bit which in turn means it wont hold the set screw tight against the rod. Happened to me. I have not glued or fixed the ring, I just dont tighten the set screw all the way. Trial and error a few times and you will find the sweet spot like I did.

interesting. It seems like there is excessive tension on the actual rod and it is hard to pull up, I cant figure out how a cracked ring would cause that.
