so I just bought a 1988 corvette base, just installed a new clutch master and clutch slave cylinder let the car warm up and we took it out for a drive temps and everything was fine running great. The overdrive was being a little funky but nothing concerning then we are approaching a stop light and it just shuts off like power and everything. The battery was stone dead to note before we took it so we had to jump it to get it running when it shut off I hooked a jump pack up to it again and all lights went on dash and all but no click no crank was stone dead any ideas on even where to start getting a new battery tomorrow? thank you for your time.
Common issue on any car that is this old. Clean all electrical connections. Grounds, plug connections, both sides of battery and cables. Clean the connections to the PCM, everything. There's electrical sprays that will help clean plug connectors that you can't get a wire brush into.
Get it running and look at the output from the alternator. My thoughts are that your battery is getting nothing back from the alternator so it just drains the battery.
