I have a 1994 C4 and there is a section of the center console by the ashtray cover that is starting to look pretty nasty. I'm looking to replace the center console. Has anyone done this and can recommend a replacement that best matches the rest of the factory interior? I know sometimes with replacement parts (especially aftermarket parts) the color and/or texture might be slightly off and I'm hoping to avoid that if possible.
For a factory look you need NOS or salvage parts. Reproduced factory parts vary in quality but the rule of thumb is cheaper means less authentic looking, but Corvette interior parts across the board aren't cheap.
There are some that "state" they match on eBay for only $70. I might grab one just to see how well it matches. NOS looks pretty hard to find, think I found some for between $300 to $400.
I thought about that but the cupholder lid also had issues. I should have it all put back together tomorrow afternoon after the retainers arrive and hopefully it looks ok.
I replaced the radio bezel at the same time with a new old stock GM part. Evidently for some reason GM decided to stop doing the coating on that piece but it still "looks" like it has the coating.
That looks fantastic! Mind sharing your steps to produce the finish?

My 96 consoles in fairly good shape but it's starting to show its age. Back in the early '90s Ray-Ban came out with a pair of sunglasses with the same finish they were called daddio's I had them for about 5 years they became very gummy much like a lot of the consoles do after being hit with cleaning products. ISO options are restoring the original finish
