Since the early 90’s, Canadian cars have had to have headlights that automatically come on when driving. I don’t recall seeing many corvettes with their lights on in daytime, so I’m wondering if they are somehow exempt from the law, or if owners have defeated the function, and if so, is it legal? My main question is, with all that opening and closing of the headlight pods every time you start up and shut down, are Canadian cars experiencing more problems with headlight motors?
My '92 is a Canadian car and it uses the parking lights as the running lights during the day and has a sensor that automatically flips the headlights up when it gets dark. Kind of like "Twilight Sentinel" on a Caddy. The auto headlights are kind of annoying because it'll keep cycling on and off if I drive down a shady street or sometimes around dusk.
If they aren't up, they have defeated it. The Canadian export cars automatically rotate those babies over.
this was the first thing i ever posted about here...very easy to defeat, i sent in a tech tip about it... https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...=143&TopicID=2
i hated having my lights turn on and off constantly, so it had to go!!!
I had to add this feature to my car, as I imported a US market vette into canada. All I did was wire up the fog lights to my ignition so they cam on instead of my headlights flipping over every time I started my car. It was goodf enough to pass a federal and provincial inspection
