Purchased a 95 lt1 with a bad heater core. I bypassed the coolant line with a 5/8 kit and had the heater control valve (Part #902-008 SKU #536530) pop off and the car overheated. To my understanding it controlled heater erosion and coolant pressure at low speeds and control the high speeds.
currently bypassed that with a 5/8 connector also my temp would run from 200 to 235 and bounce back down with and without ac in a 8 miles drive.
my question would be : is it best to go through
1: fan operation 2: thermostat replacement 3:radiator 4: waterpump. I see the temp guage on the head is loose and awfuly close to the exhaust by itself aswell.
200 to 235 is within the normal operating range of a 95 LT1. Normal within the factory PCM settings that is. Some people tweak those settings when tuning the PCM.
