Default Which Gaskets are Correct?

My C4 Corvette is an 89 & I had to tear into it a few months ago for multiple reasons but it’s on the road to re-assembly. Now I need Gasket help!

I opened the FelPro oil pan gasket OS34510T I’d bought from Summit based on their recommendation. However, I found it has two dip stick options, left or right. Not sure about using it I called FelPro & was told it was the wrong number. I was told I needed OS34500R but they couldn’t tell me how the two gaskets were different or if I could use the one I had with the stock oil pan. Does anyone know if I should or shouldn’t use the one I have?

That got me concerned about the valve cover gaskets as well & Felpro told me to use VS50293R. When I did a search I found it but it’s a single gasket thus I need 2. However I’d also seen VS50088R as a set, but looking at the reviews some said it works for the corvette & others said it didn’t work. Does anyone have a recommendation here as well?

I was recommended by some altogether different to use the FelPro valve stem seal set SS72527, for both the intake & exhaust valve stems. Talking to FelPro they recommended this to be used only on the intake valves & use SS72877 for exhaust valves. What do you guys recommend here & do I use both the large & small seals in the kit?

Finally, since I’m trying to eliminate oil leaks because I’m tired of laying in them or walking through them by accident, should I look at sealing the front oil pan seal metal “U” by either a bit of RTV on the inside or outside edge where the two metals come together? Naturally pushing it in the grove with my finger & pulling off any excess, so it’s only in the grove.

or here on the other side?

Any other recommendations are greatly appreciated as I keep working towards getting the vette back up & running. Thanks guys!

The FelPro VS 50088 R is a direct interchange from the OE/GM 14088564, The OS 34500 R is also a direct interchange from the OE/GM 14088505.

Generally speaking I'd think 'local' buys and research though 'local' sources should do well and be suggested.

VS 50088R is correct for the valve cover gaskets both sides as WVZR-1 said. Oil Pan should be OS 34500R.

If you go to FelPro.com and look for the "Parts", "Gasket Sets" pull down menu, you can enter your Year, Manufacturer, and Model - and it will lay out for you all the correct gaskets for the entire engine.

Yes, you can use the valve guides seals SS 72527 for both intake and exhaust as you have read. The exhaust seals are the umbrella type in the official FelPro fitment SS 72877 but using the intake sets on both intake/exhaust will give you a more positive oil seal.

On the timing cover, I haven't had to use silicone on the lower area like you're describing but it couldn't hurt as long as you get it only into the smaller groove as you've described. I installed mine last year using all the recommended FelPro products and I haven't had any leaks in that area, or any other for that matter. Their stuff is good!

Check out Fel Pro 1628 for valve covers and Fel Pro 1886 for the oil pan 👍
