Default Why So Much Grease

I have a 1995 coupe that I have removed the entire interior. I can not believe all the excess white grease. In the driver side underneath the hatch glass strut I found globs of grease, Almost like they cleared a air pocket in a grease gun.
The underside of the weather stripping on the hatch there was piles of excessive grease all away around smeared clear up underneath where the carpet lays. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks Hawkeye56

There is a lot on my '92. I keep finding oozing out of the weather stripping for the rear hatch. IDK what the deal is w/that stuff. It sucks.

Yes I agree 100%, I am tired of spraying my adhesive / degreaser to clean areas up. I have to leave the garage for the smell is very strong.

I found the same mess under the hatch w/s on my '96 coupe. My best guess was that it was intended to allow the w/s to float a little bit relative to the body as the hatch glass opens and closes. That glass doesn't just drop down on top of the w/s. It more slides across it. Not a great design, IMHO. In any case, it was an annoying mess to deal with.

Live well,

The bulk of my grease was up under the body not near the weather stripping. I hope the new ones are cleaner.😎

These cars where assembled by "real" humans not artificial workers (robots). Design of assembly tools has improved so application quantities are regulated and accurate. Materials used have changed so some lubes have been eliminated or replaced.

I'm sure we see lots of factory "free range" assembly techniques when we dig into these c4's.
