Default X Pipe for 96 LT4?

Dumb question I know. Looking to get my Corsa mufflers installed this weekend. I only have the mufflers and not the resonator. So, I'd like to do an x pipe before I pony up the cash for ARH headers. I don't care if it will drone with an x pipe.
Any suggestions?

Long tubes usually come with their own x pipe. If you buy and x pipe first, odds are good that it won't work with your headers.

I know. But I won't be buying longtubes for a while. Which is why I want an x pipe.

Fnd a muffler shop to cut out your resonator and add in an x pipe. Shouldn't be more than a hundred bucks I'd think.

I had a custom X-Pipe installed in my 95' m-6. cheap too...fab and intall under $150. It made the sound more mellow yet deeper...if that makes any sense. the Mufflers are Borla and the sound with the custom x-pipe is amazing. I'm not aware of any pre-fabbed X-pipes for a C4.

The Magna Flow stamped X fits. An economical alternative until LTs and full X-pipe goes on the car.

The LT4 cars all have an H pipe ahead of the mufflers. If you’re just doing mufflers the H should survive.

True. However I do like the tone of an x pipe.

Where did you source the mufflers from? I'm assuming used.

I've been looking for a set of mufflers for years...dont want to pony up for a $1K catback system that i'll hack to pieces.

Those were my exact thoughts. I got lucky and bought these Corsa mufflers on an ebay auction for like $300 shipped. Having double thoughts. Might just splurge and buy the ARH longtubes

How's the Ruby doing!?

I snagged a set of Magna Flows from Dino's in Picayune, MS for $300.

I bought these used. Mufflers only. Before I cleaned/polished them.

After

Both done. They are the old school Corsa. The "corsa" lettering is raised on the tips.

Wouldnt fit in the C4. So I took them in my xjr 100. Went back in the C4. Truthfully though, I'm just showing off my xjr 100 here

Not happy with the tailpipe fitment. But they struggled to get them how they are. Oh well. I'll figure something out. I got them to cut the resonator out. Put straight pipe in place. Kept the factory H pipe. Im happy with the sound. Sounds very deep, especially for a Corsa. No drone. Headers will be perfection.....even more so with an lt4 hotcam.

Like the idea of a local shop fabbing one up for you if they dont already stock some that may fit.
Any catback ive ordered still needed to be hacked on a bit to work so...

X pipe in my case was used simply to help mute high frequency noise when I stood on it in hopes the wrong person didnt hear me coming a block away.
Lots of the good "raspy" exh noises were lost. An H or no crossover will enhance the old school sound especially if you have a cam.

If I decided to change things up Id have 0 crossover....due to sound and making trans removal easier.
You are going to love thje sound of those Corsas and longtubes at WOT.
