Had one come up this week on the good old Craigslist for $3500 and as a complete car it piqued my interest. Fully rebuilt top end and all new electronics on the crossfire. Still running open headers and the interior was in complete shambles when I looked at it. It started right up and ran and moved great so I brought it home. Not a fan of the brown so I prepped and painted it white this weekend while the weather was still somewhat nice. I have to wet sand and clear and then it needs all new weather stripping and new tires. I put the interior back together but unfortunately the dash isn't displaying anything at all. But hey, it's a work in progress and I'm happy to have a strong running C4 for that price.
He used a top-quality brush...
Seriously, we don't know what his skills are.
He may be very experienced at painting cars
and it may have been no big deal for him.
I've painted cars and it took me quite a
while as was very inexperienced!
You are the best thing to happen to that car. Nice work. Is the front bumper just mocked up for now? It looks a little off.
Thanks! No, it's a hair off on that passenger corner for some reason. The little "flairs" sticking out on each side are the molding. They don't quite stay all the way in anymore. I'll have to get new ones or get some adhesive for these to suck them back in.
So you painted it over the weekend. How did you get it prepped and painted so fast? I take months to paint a car...
I've been doing my own paint and body for over 20 years now. When you have a solid base to start with it doesn't take me too long. I can prep in a couple days and shoot on the first coats on day 3. I use ready to shoot lacquer paints. The wet sanding, clear wet sanding, polishing and buffing will take the longest.
