Trying to replace antenna mast on '90 coupe. Took old one out, removed broken piece from inside the spool, but when we tried to feed the new one in, it takes about 8 inches and then just stops! Grrr... the motor continues running and turning the radio off will eject the 8 inches. Don't know what's wrong. Any ideas
Did you take the motor apart and hook the new mast in manually or are you trying to get it to lock itself in? I took mine apart and hooked it in with the antenna all the way down and then when everything was put back together and wired up it worked great.
Thanks for the response....we got it figured out. The plastic retainer underneath the spool was not seated all the way, which provided a stop for the mast when it tried to feed itself in. Fixed, done, yeah!
If I remember right when I did mine it only fed in about 8 inches too. The kicker was to make sure the cleats " for lack of a better term," had to be facing the outboard side of the car. Pushed it in until it stopped, turned the radio off and it sucked the rest of the cable down into the antenna motor. Thats the one thing I remember from the instuctions, was to pay attention to which direction the cleats were facing when removing the old mast. 84 CF 91 ZR-1
