Default Claybarring question

Right now I am claybarring my car and it's very obvious by touch of where Ive done and have not done (like a moron i got some paint fumes settled on it when painting somthing in the garage). Thankfully It's taking everything off. I remember people talking about washing the whole car after doing this.

I am spraying, then claying, then wiping off the mess with a rag. Should I be just leaving the mess for a wash to take off? Just curious because if so, it would save a little elbow grease.
TIA

Yeah, don't worry about wiping it down. You might do more harm than good that way if a little piece of debris is left it'll scratch the paint. Just do the car with clay, wash it, then Zaino according to the directions. Good luck. The only reason you might want to wipe off the leftover is if some of the soap-water mixture drips down and starts to dry, leaving residue, and if left long enough, leaving permanent spots.

Thanks. I did a little experiemnt after posting to see if the stuff would wash off after dry-- decided to just clay and then wash-- went much quicker. Car looks like a million bucks now :D and i havent polished or waxed yet. May save that for tomorrow. I cant believe how smooth the paint it now but Im very relieved that it fixed my mistake.

What "mess" are you talking about? Is the clay bar you're using leaving a clay residue or a film? Perhaps your clay bar is too soft? I used the harder clay bar (Zaino), and it left no residue whatsoever, and left the surface squaky clean (well, more like silky smooth).

You might try posting in the Car Care forum here. I'm sure you'll get an answer from an expert there.

The mess is just the lubricant drying up as if you sprayed a detail spray , but didnt wipe it dry.
