Hello,
I just bought a 1989 , private party.
the seller only had one key and it was a normal style key, no chip. im guessing the VATS has been bypassed ?
I had a viper keyless entry installed and its been working fine. except tonight after I unlocked the doors the alarm went off when I opened it. I used the door key to disarm it.
is there a fuse I can pull to completely disable the factory alarm , and would it affect the operation of the car ?
thank you for your time.

I suggest looking closely how well the doors lock/unlock. Either my motors are getting weaker OR the linkages require lube. Either way, the addition of a keyless entry (on my 89) doesn't always FULLY lock/unlock the doors. I'm thinking opening the door (e.g., reaching in an open window) will set it off. That's a good thing. If it turns out the issue is a weak or in-need-of-service power lock, I'd hate to see you purposely disable the entire alarm.
As a side-note, I wonder if your installer provides any warranty service -- in case it's related to your new keyless entry?
I agree with @GREGGPENN - I'd check the linkages. My 86 doesn't have keyless entry, but the power locks weren't fully-engaging the lock. A little cleaning and lubrication of the linkage got them working good as new.
