Default 1992-1996 LT1

Is there a big difference in performance??? I know that the 1992 has 300 hp. Besides the Lt4. Is there a big difference in the LT1 1993-1996 compared to the 1992???? Are the close??? Whats the 0-60 times of the 92 LT1???

I think it may be all in the gearing of the car the person has. I've raced a 94 w/ 2.59's (automatic) vs my 96 w/ 3.07's and pulled 2 cars on him immediatly off the line.

It all depends on the car. My 92 bone stock with 50k miles made 270RWHP and has run 13.7 at our local (crappy) drag strip. I have a friend with a stock 94 A4 that runs 14.5 at the same track with the better of the two rear ends for the A4s. So basically it all boils down to production variances between any LT1.

no difference.

HP and torque are the same.

the only difference in car performance is in gearing, or suspension selected.

a minor correction... there is a torque change... in 92, the LT1 put out 330ft/lbs, in 1993 it was upped to 340 at a lower RPM or something... and it was retuned again in 1995...

the LT1 is available with both the 6spd and auto, but in 1996, the LT1 was only available on the auto. the LT4 was available with only the 6spd.

yes, a few might have snuck out with LT4/auto's but they are the exception....

A Vette LT1 w/6 spd should go 0-60 in 5 seconds flat on avg.

Automatics depend on the gearing and Torque Converter.

They changed the cam slightly in '93. Nothing to right home about. Maybe 10TQ difference and no difference in hp. They also changed the valve covers, fan belt, and in '94 sometime updated the optispark. All in all the driver and gearing would really determine a winner. As you know, no two cars are identical in performance with identical equipment. With slight variances, they are virtually the same. Also, you would want to replace the cam in an upgrade anyway regardless of which one you have.

Funny you should ask this.I was reading some old Corvette Fever magazines
and they were raving about the switch to sequential fuel injection in 1994.
They said the 1994's felt marginally quicker than the 1993's.And the 1992's
used to test real well in most of the major magazines.

I would really disagree with the 'buy as new as you can' comment.

In vettes its easy to find older one that have been babied and newer ones that are beat.

Figure out how much money you have to spend and then buy the best car you can find, regardless of age.

Also, another thing was the fuel injection... I beleive 94 changed to SPFI (sequential) vs the older TPI (batch) type in 92-93... This was supposed to decrease emissions and create better drivabilty...

94 was also supposed to be much improved over the 93 and below in build quality... I've also been told by several sources that the 95 had the best build quality (even better than 96) but I'm skeptical on that once, why lower build quality the year after???

As is always mentioned, buy the newest you can afford... Also buy what you want rather than trying to make it into something you want... Don't buy a 2.59 rear A4 car if you want steeper gears, buy a car with sport seats if you want them as a change there could also be very expensive...
