I put MLV (mass loaded vinyl) on the top side of my wheel well liners and it definitely made a difference. I cut small pieces, formed them to the liner with a heat gun and attached with small screws. The MLV sound blocker is pretty stiff and can be hard to work with.
This was in addition to putting 3 levels of sound blocking in the cabin. Front cabin-sound deadening squares, heat shield, MLV. Rear cabin-sound deadening squares, foam liner, MLV. On top of that, I replaced the carpeting. Cabin is much quieter and cooler. The A/C does not have to work near as hard.
Here are a couple of photos. The rear cabin with the 3 layers, plus carpet (sound deadener squares, foam pad, MLV) and the wheel well liner with MLV attached to top.
Ok. Just throwing this out there. Would Dynamat on the inside of the rear wheel wells make any difference?
the sound off the road & tires vibrates the medial around the wheel wells that is were the bulk of the sound comes from so first have to kill the medial vibes just using the deader as a sound barrier will not get the full effects of the deadener first put the deadener on the medial then can put on other surfaces this is how is is designed to work have to deaden the vibes first
Chris, the carpet was touch and go in several places but I managed to get it in. I could not get the seat rail front caps on in the inside rails next to the trans hump. I don't know how much weight I added but the tradeoff of less heat and noise versus a little more performance was a good one for me. I did the work just before I took the car on my Route 66 road trip. It was worth all the work.
Are you listing the car on the forum? How much are you asking? I forgot, is it a manual or automatic?

First, thank you for your purchase! Glad to hear your happy with the Blockit "Quick & Quiet". And you might be right,....It might not be as good as something that requires hours to install with all that permanent weight. But its pretty darn good for a 60 second install.
