Default Coolant temperature

Ok guys just installed new water pump, ac delete, egr delete, new radiator hoses new 180 thermostat and coolant flush. When I started my csr up for the first time the temp jumped straight to 299. I know my car isn't overheating the fan switch is new and so is the temp sensor on the front of the intake. Car runs and idles fine just wondering why it's reading temp so high. Could I have possibly gotten a bad temp sensor?

I just replaced all my cooling stuff. Runs 195+ all the time but I did drop in a big Dewitt radiator.

Put the old temp sensor in but make sure you get the air out of the system first. Then swith can see if you get the same results.

Alright, I haven’t had an opportunity to work on cleaning the condenser but after. Bit of driving and more focused following of the temps I’ve noticed now that while cruising temps do gone to low 180s
(It’s a bit cool for San Antonio TX avg temps at around 55-65 degrees)

during idling it will go out to 220 and just hold steady there . . . Maybe the first day it still had some air in the system that it been finding its way out slowly maybe

now I feel more comfortable & confident in the car

It was a pretty cool day here in Virginia with temps in the high 30's and my digital readout said 180 degrees water temp...
