Torqhead resale value?
Usually lean towards the C4 but really...same condition, price lowish mi...line up a C4, C5 /Z or C6..id have a tough time not buying the newer one.
To the average guy say who drove a 5 or 6 then drives a 4 he will probably never want in a 4 again. They feel like crap in comparison
It will take an enthusiast to "pay"..the crack pipe pricing im seeing is almost laughable.

out of all the folks that I know (well or just casually) that are in the Corvette world, most of them ditched their C4's long ago for new, faster, more refined, less creaky, more comfortable, didn't want to work on them, newer Vettes
the majority of us here are here because we like the C4's, my wife says she likes the looks of ours better than the later model ones.
with that said, I would take one of the manual shift 427 Z06's if I had the money (fixed income, put out to pasture sucks sometimes, sometimes not) in a flash. but since that is out of the picture, I am learning and making my '96 a pretty dang nice ride that owes no one an apology.

Group 1 will largely not be buying a c4, unless they are very limited in funding. This group is more likely to buy a super high mile c7 to try tonflex.
Group 2 will recognize the performance for the dollar of a late c4 is insane. A c4 is not much slower than a c5, while being like, half the cost. The c6 is faster, but a lot more money. I cant say that an lt1 with heads and a whipple would be any slower than a c6, and would be a lot less money.
I tire of it also...the "500 bux 5.3 and ebay turbo 1000hp for 1000 bux"...Bullllchit.
Those guys most of em grew up on ls, repeat what they say on the web, never owned or built anything in thier life
Want 350 or 400hp? Cant do that with a Gen 1 go get a worn out 200k truck engine. My god...lol
On price it depends on location. 15k in Ca buys a super nice C5..20k gets you a pretty clean driver C6
Everyones wanting to cash in on covid...somehow a virus makes cars wirth 4x what they were. Lol Im not paying it.
Would you pay 15, 20, 25k for a 70k mi C4? I wouldnt.
Yes Im biased and like em too..but know their shortocmings.
To owne a C5 and newer in Ca it has to be bone stock now..fail smog with anything other than an OEM GM tune. Cant even increase line pressure in the trans. 2000 up doesnt go on the rollers which is a plus...but you can still mod an OBD 1 car provided it sniffs ok and passes the visual.
One reason I sold my Z..just didnt have enough power to keep long term and to mod @ a power level Id be happy with would never pass

So it will be faster than a C5 and getting close enough to scare a C6 that has 500+ HP.
I have all the parts that are essentially Summit Racing's LT1 top end kit (430 hp) and a set of good American Racing headers, along with new injectors and a good tune should get me above 450 hp. If need be, I have a set of COP coils already and will switch to Bailey's LTCC box.
Reading Tom's writeups and details that I have noticed on the car, I have it stiffened up. I do have a convertible x-brace and some left-over rails from one of the horse gates that match the profile of the x-brace rails. I am going to run them lengthwise, similar to the Vette-to-vette bars. If that isn't stiff enough, then I will get those. The camber brace that I installed, as well as the harness brace that triangulates the halo to the frame made a huge difference in the handling and taking away the creaks and rattles.
What I would like to do, like, not will, not enough $$$ at this point, is have a permanent brace engineered underneath the top, to actually create the t-top connection. I have an idea how to do it, though.
I am doing this for me. I seriously doubt that I would ever get the money we are putting into it back due to the "I can buy a C5/6 for that" mentality.
So I do practice what I preach, :-)

Maybe in the wacky world of CA those numbers are true, but the rest of the country those numbers won't get you into what you're talking about for a c5 or c6. They'll get you into the worst car you can put pictures on the internet of with tons of hidden issues, but not a really clean driver ready car.

Many nice ones out there and they sure bring more than avg but no way did a 30 yr old C4 appreciate 2, 3, 4 times in value cause of some virus.

If prices hold then good for the owners when they sell.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

POS 1979 for $6000, a 96 advertised as a Grand Sport, is just a run of the mill LT1 for $16,500 and the last is another LT1 96 they want, but won't get $20,000
Remember a friend (vendor here) taking me into a super tight curve yrs ago..warned him to slow down he laughed guy is nuts anyways.
Car felt like it would have lots of body roll or lose control..it didnt. (C5)
Great for long drives but they do lose something re the fun feeling. Maybe Ive had too many pos over the yrs and the C4 hits that nerve
Kinda like if it dont feel like it might break down somethings wrong.
any feedback from other Torqhead customers?
Most superceded well above 150k.
the good ole fashion dist Most P.U.- coils, Coils, ICM voluminous cap, rotors failed way before this timeframe.
When the opti truly retires from it's duty. Diagnosis is challenging. Genuine supply is near extinction.
the 94 - 95 crossover PCM computer is, was extremely advanced. some features better than LS/ OBD II
I had my pcm EE tune SO dialed. It was flawless.
Last resort upgrading to TH 411 PCM or similar 24x system. Fairly expensive for a unscheduled upgrade.
Crossing the bridge to modern multi coils, crank & cam sensor/s. Wave good bye to the Opti.
Or 3 fingers minus 2 equals. middle.!
Great news is. Coil packs. a digital timing light.
What is that. Visual and RPM value. diagnosis.
Cam, crank sensor/s.
All simplistic. almost white glove replacement.
Way better than removing - installing a Opti with hidden hard to reach/ see wires. Cap & rotor NOT fun to replace.
I could see a full conversion net more value.
The 24x OBD II system is nice. I purchased 2018
Very happy with the results. I wish the kits were available much earlier.
I would convert future cars. It's a plug & play bolt- on. upgrade.
The BAD.
Coils fail trust me. I had 4 fail within weeks.
Multi LS coil designs. mostly form factor..
Last known PCM revision you lose some of the dash features like DTC. And driver information. This could be a game changer for some.
For mods the require tuning. This is where Manufacturers monopolized.
You are forced to purchase a license to marry/ pair a specific model "per PCM" or pay much more for a series of models. Yet some are still limited or exclusive.
if only GM finalized OBD II. in 94 Opti would be a rumor.
they were SO close.!

No. I installed and tuned my TH kit 2018 proto/ release date. I was the only ZF customer that discovered a pulse discrepancy. Paul only tested on his 4L60e. I'm positive the baseline has been revised.
Or. Future projects? Is a correction. Replacement for my. future cars.
Nice looking vert.
Generous. Above and beyond helping out your community.
May the torque be with you!
1995 Lt-1 convert
opti changed by previous owner twice 3 years
experienced intermittent spark loss, no start until cooled down
Dealership replaced coil, icm idler pulley and belt, for 1200.00 that included a tow charge, suggests changing opti 1,300 plus parts, and if that doesn’t work try to locate and replace PCM no price quoted but most likely I would try to send it out to be reprogrammed or tuned not sure of cost.
snap on 2500 shows code 16 and code 36
low and high Resolution signal failures intermittently while driving.
cold starts up like it should, but might not re start when parked.
For 2500 delivery to my door, the Torqhead addresses both issues
the opti is replaced
the computer is replaced
and the brackets look the best of coil/plug kits
HPTuner is added bonus as it will allow more tuning options then the snap on 2500.
anybody in central Florida need diagnostics on a 84-96 Vette the snap on 2500 plugs right in to the DTC connector and can data log/capture data.
