Default Drive in snow?

With all of the talk about snow I am curious about how many people take out their vettes and what their limits are. I could not imagine trying to take it out but I know some people are more brave. :D

I live near Boston, and my Vette is my only car. We are in the middle this week of seven consecutive days of snow. You learn to baby the gas and give it just enough to keep the car moving. Right, Scorp?:steering:

I sometimes take mine out when the snow is cleared from the road. Last Sunday the roads had been plowed but were still a little wet. I took my '92 out for a few hours to charge both its and my batteries.

I don't drive my cars ('92 Corvette and '90 Camaro) in the snow. This is because I don't have the skill to handle slopes and in my area there are lots of hills.

I avoid it just because I don't want the hassle of cleaning them. But as soon as the roads are clear and dry I take them out

If it snows I drive in the snow. I realize that in WV we don't have snow like you northeasterners but when I lived in the Catskills in NY I drove whatever I had in the snow.......... like a 68 Dodge Coronet R/T with a full boogie 440 and my 70 Vette ............ and lots of other cars......... like the sticker says :"ain't skeered"

I haven't driven the 94 in the snow...yet. But I did live in Rochester, NY and had a 75 as my only car for a couple of years. That car landed in snow banks at least a couple of times, with no harm done.

Sometimes you go around a corner slow and it just wouldn't steer! I doubt the 94 would be better. And I've driven lots in snow in lots of different cars, from a 59 MGA to a 70 Chevelle SS 396 to, well, you get the idea.

I never tried (and never will) but I can't imagine they go to good with the wide tires and HP.

My '90 is sitting in my driveway with it's cover on and about an inch of slush left over from our last two storms on the cover. It'll stay there until the roads are REALLY dry. Never driven it in the snow (or rain). That's why God made my wife's Subaru. ;)

what do you do to clean the road crap off the undercarriage? With the LT1, I'm hesitant to go near a regular carwash, mostly due to the Opti.

Here in Colorado I still have the top down when it snows. Remember, its better to look good than to feel good.

Default Drive in snow?

My car has seen snow numerous times, and will again! It went in it every year from 1996 when I first bought it until 2000 when I had it painted. I've become a little "LESS ****" about the paint and am now driving it all year round(I'm a waxer eh? :p: ) I haven't been caught in the snow yet..but a sand truck did blow by me and pelted the hell out of the car with rock salt and sand. I just kept going like nothing happened :D Most of the "SHOW VETTES" would have had a heart attack. No disrecpect to them. That is NOT for me. It's a car, it can be cleaned.

In the winter I us the spray (touchless) car washes for the body and underside. I clean it really good in the spring. No problem so far. If the opti breaks, I will fix it.

I drive the 92 every day during the summer to work (20 miles each way). It had 113k miles when I bought it and I keep it in really good shape. It is one of the better cars I have ever had.

I do watch out for some of the big highways in the winter because of the sand. There is one I go on to work where the trucks kick up sand in the winter just like a sand blaster. It will remove your paint so this one I don't go near.

Next summer, I still expect I expect to use the 92 for work and the Z on weekends. And yes the Z has been out this winter too. Someday I will move where it's warm all year but for now I have to pay the bills.

Life is way too short and Corvettes are just too much fun.

We don't get much snow in the Memphis area but if the weatherman says snow 5 cars crash into each other right off the bat!! The vette only comes out on clear days. I drive the Tahoe the rest of the time :jester
