I am trying to add led to my stop turn and back up and ect . I have followed a great thread from Norm. Now the problem, led install front and rear and regular bulbs in front side markers. Turn signal lights will work properly oh yea load resistors install on tail lights. Hazards will only work with a reverse polarity plug on led flasher.
turn flasher will continue to tick with key on and no turn on. I believe that is from the purple wire going to the CCM for the chime after turn signal is left on over one minute.
The tail lights will not always come on. If right turn is operating then right tail will work.
90% of the time you turn the lights on and no tail lights. I removed the led lights from the rear and lights came on and worked.
I would be happy if could at least have tail and stop led lights.
I hope someone can steer me in the right direction.
Thanks Hawkeye56
I have led tail lights in my 93, led headlights and led fog lights. Everything else is incandescent.
For the tail lights all I did was install a digital turn signal flasher. The hazards still worked fine with the load from the incandescents left over. No load resistors at all.
Did nothing for the fog lights and did the circuit doctor fix for the headlights.
I’ve heard trying to go all led with the side markers/turn markers will cause issues.

I have a LED flasher for the turn signals, I reinstalled the original bulbs in the marker/sideturn. the main issue is that the tail lights will not always come on with the led.
Thanks

If you still have them installed, remove the load resistors. Also sometimes the led bulbs are bad though too. You may want to move them between the sockets to see and or go back to the originals to see if it still works properly.

Yes I have removed the ground from the load resistors and still the same problem.
Could be bad bulbs then? Mine were plug and play minus the digital flasher.
You can test the bulbs with a 12 volt source and also make sure they are not shorted with a multimeter. Also, what happens if you disconnect the turn signal flasher you installed? I’d try installing one bulb at a time to test and see if one or more are problematic.
what year is your C4 and what bulbs did you purchase?
sorry you are dealing with this it should be easy!
I have a late model C4 so things may be different for the earlier ones (with grounding etc…). It almost sounds like the bulb polarity is flipped…

Mine is a 1995, The bulbs do light up for turn/stop and tail. The problem is that the tail lights do not light up all the time hit and miss. I have tried every combination to test bulbs and system but the tails are still hit and miss, I am just about ready to send all back LOL.
What brand of LED head lights are you using? I am still going to go with head lights and fog lights, I did the ground option already.
Yeah really odd you are having issues. Something isn’t right. Worst case should be your turn signals wouldn’t work. I’m thinking bad bulbs?
For headlights I used these. They are very bright and very inexpensive. Appear to be discontinued now but I’m sure there are new versions:

Yes this has been a real pain to figure out. I retested all taillights and they all lit up on a battery charger. Some how the little gremlins do not like the LED lights for Tail. I believe that I will package all up and return them to Super Bright. I was really hoping someone would have a idea on how to correct this since I have read of many running LED with no problems. Thank You Pedricd for your suggestions.
