Default Hardtop Instructions

I just bought a Ruby Red hardtop for my car today. Does anyone have the instructions on how to install the hardtop? I did a search on it but found nothing. Does anyone have them on a .pdf or .doc or anything they can send me to guide me with installing the top?

thanks :seeya

The hardtop instructions are in my owners manual. Shouldn't they be in your's too?

I'm sure the top will look good once you had it in. Like I said, it's gonna need some tweaking.

Some of us with hard tops talked a little about this last fall. Its pretty straightforward as outlined in the manual but be sure to bolt the front down first as you'll have a hard time getting it in if you do the back or middle first.

Do the back second, then the middle. Leave everything a little loose until all the bolts are started then tighten everything starting with the front, then back then middle.

Ride around for a while then come back and re-tighten as things will loosen the first time you drive it.

Good Luck but you shouldn't need it.

I just put on the hardtop....WOW It looks great. I see now why you said put the front on first. I had to adjust the two front holes to match up with the screw that came up from the windshield but everything else went just as planned. I will take some pics soon. Now I just have to wait for the roads to clear up so I can drive it.

thanks again for all the help :grouphug:

OK... great job!!
I bet that ruby looks great now.

Let me warn you of a problem that I had though....... in case you have it.

R A T T L E S !!!!!!! :cuss

I had a rattle in the rear that I chased for 2 weeks. It actually was more of a "vibration" than a rattle. After tightening everything multiple times, I removed the top and realized that my deck lid "rubber bumpers" were not adjusted properly, leaving the lid "loose". What it did then, was to vibrate against my top.

I adjusted the rubber bumbers to tighten the lid, reinstalled the top, and havent had a problem since.

just a heads up :steering:

Was the original hardtop lost or sold prior to your purchase of the car? Just curious.

I have the hardtop on mine right now as well, and it makes a big difference in how tight the car feels - much better.

The body lines/profile of the convertible with the hardtop installed sort of remind me of a Z06. :steering:

My Ruby did not come from the factory with a hardtop. The first time I saw a C4 with a hardtop I loved it. I bought my Ruby one year ago. I had looked around at hardtops but they are pretty costly and trying to find a ruby red one was kinda hard. I gave up on it and was going buy a non ruby and have it painted. As luck would have it, a fellow forum member said he had a ruby red hardtop that he wanted to get rid of :D AND he lived an hour or so away from me  So last thursday I drove to his place and saw the top. It was in perfect condtion and bought it. It had all the hardware. It was a great great deal. I put it on yesterday after a few coats of zaino and thats the story. I cant drive it yet because the roads are all full of salt but I have my hardtop now. The car looks awsome :hurray:
