Any else have a Vette purchased from the Govt? My 85 was seized in 1986 from the Italian ancestry first owner from a New England state. It was held in a GSA warehouse until sold at auction in 1992. The guy that bought it paid top doller but had to replace a lot of stuff; computer, heater core, tires, many seals and gaskets, battery, etc. He drove it as a daily until his wife got too disabled to get in and out of the car. Sold it to me in 99. After investigation, I find that the car never got held long enough by the first owner to get titled and registered until 1992. I checked very carefully for white powdery substances and stuff, but nothing was found. sniff, sniff hmmm must have a cold! GSA must have kept it under a car cover cause it is in pretty good shape. It never will be NCRS since I like to tweak. After all, it is a hobby.

Re: Confiscated Vette (NHVett)
I see a black and white cop car vette every now and then that a local Police Dept confiscated years ago from a drug dealer. I rememebr seeing them running it at the local drags a few years back when I was there all the time too. It was cool to see it staging and racing with all the lights flashing too :lolg: :blueangel:

We have some copper bookends in our neighborhood. Two local pds use these confiscated C4s turned cruisers, in public relation activities. I haven’t heard of any private acquisitions from government seizers other than NHVett’s .
Since I see a few drug confiscated Vettes posted, and I believe that this was a organized crime seizure. Maybe the branch of govt. that does the ****** matters as to where the car ends up. The "poor" guy who lost the car bought it with every option except 4+3 dang it. Maybe he couldn't drive a std.

Funny you should mention that! My '86 coupe was originally owned by a Morris County, NJ prosecutor. While my brother's '87 coupe was seized from a drug dealer by the U.S. Marshalls' office, sold to a dealer then later sold to my brother.
We picked up a minvan (94 Ford Aerostar) via a Gov't auction a couple of months ago can't beat the price! I was just about to plunk down a bunch of cash on a new PT Cruiser when they announced the gov't sale...ended up spending 10% on our 2nd vehicle :D
I've seen a couple of Vettes listed for sale from this place in Florida...once we get back to the US we'll ****** one up!
