hey all, the other day i've been removing the "poor man" fix that my previous owner applied to the antenna on the 89. what he/she did was completely remove the power antenna and brackets and replace it with this fixed mast antenna which i've removed. now how the heck do i make a bracket for the power antenna motor? and where will it mount to on the car?? this is frustrating me as i cannot find any info on the stock antenna bracket either meaning i have to make my own, but i cannot make my own until i find out where the bracket will mount to. so far i cannot see any signs of holes and such that show where the original power antenna was mounted.
thanks frank that actually does help quite a bit. looks like the bracket is mounted to the underside of that black box that has the grommet with the wires coming out, i did see some sort of holes there but didn't check to see if they were threaded. then the sucker attaches to the top which i am sure i can figure out. only thing that throws me off is that the motor i got is used, so theres no actual ground attached to the motor i'll have to make one, i did find the body ground wire. also i never found any signs of power cables or anything to splice with the wires on the motor. guess i'll have to run wires.
On my '94 (and I suspect that all C4s are similar) the bracket is mounted off the rear bumper cover screws. The bolts are captive (they don't fall out when you remove the nuts), which makes it a little easier when removing the antenna.
