1. Pay it off first if it isn't.
2. Fix whatever needs touching up.
3. Buy a 2nd vehicle. :)
Scorp's advise is wise beyond his years. Save the rest for unexpected repairs. (They WILL happen).

Hope you follow through on your plans to serve your country. Finish your degree and get the commission! :flag

save it for that ##@!!##@# day when something breaks, and then you can be like. SWEETTT free fix. and maybe even pay somebody to fix it really quick (instead of talking weeks to do it yourself. :)
myself, id sell the one i got, buy a newer one that i wont feel as bad runnin to death, ... actaully... run your car into the dirt. get a bunch of tickets. have 6k's worth of good old fun :p:...

.. or see how many sets of tires you can use in a month... hehehehe

Consider this: Stick that money into a mutual fund until you are ready to retire. Then you can buy a new corvette and enjoy your retirement in style! :steering:
Screw saving it man... spend it now! You can't have any fun with money in the bank. I always justify my purchases by assuming I'll be better off financially later, when a few grand won't be so hard to come by.

Also, you should be able to get your tires and get them mounted for under $600 if you buy Kumho's or Sumitomo's.
Yeah, so maybe that state of mind will never get me rich, but I'll still have fun. I don't think it's possible to enjoy your toys as much as an old fart anyways. I'd probably complain about my aching back and buy an RV instead.

considering that you are a young man, with an entire future ahead of you that includes, a household, a wife and kids, and a ton of other bills, I would consider putting that money into the bank for future use.

believe me, the day will come when you wish you had that money.

I sure wish that I would have followed that same advice when I was your age....(30+ years ago)
