Default 85 digi dash dark spot

Hi everyone, I replaced my dash bulbs because I thought they looked dark in the center and I thought some bulbs must have burnt out. However, now that I’ve replace the bulbs with brighter ones, the effect has gotten even more exaggerated since the everything is very bright now and the gas gauge in the center is almost completely dark. Is there some sort of light diffuser in the cluster that spreads the light that I missed or is something else awry?

There is a light diffuser, but I would think it would be hard to miss. It's a fairly large piece and it helps hold the screens in. Is that a photo of the P.O.S.T. when you turn the key on? If not, I think your polarizing film is shot. You've got way too many numbers showing. Also, is your fuel gauge working? What you're showing there looks like an empty tank.

Go look at batee.com. He has a lot of information and how-to videos that are very helpful.

I agree. The polarizers are shot. Easy fix

I think the polarizing film is ok since when those go bad it wouldn’t be dark behind the screen right? The reason there’s so many numbers is because the oil temp sensor is shot so it always read 320 deg but the battery voltage reads 14.2 which is fine. I’ll check for a diffuser since from my understanding a bad polarizer wouldn’t cause it to look dark in one spot, it would just make the numbers look illegible but I could be wrong here. Thanks!
