87 engine swap

87 engine swap
Hey all
i just joined last fall after picking up my first 87 barn find with sport package. Everything electronic works and the seats have very little visible wear. So I’m excited to do so minor interior resto. I’m going to swap out the engine because original has a bad knock and oil pressure drops out on it. I kinda had a feeling on this when I bought it. The guy said it ran when he parked it 10-15 years ago. I knew it cranked over and wanted to start but fuel pump was bad in it. So after getting it home and changing fuel pump it fired right up. I changed oil and filter and put marvel mystery in to see if maybe it was stuck rod or something but no. So instead of rebuild which is the same or more at some places. I am just gonna buy a crate engine and swap stuff over to it.
So my question is what crate engines have you guys done?
I was planning on moving the TPI over and other stuff so that as far as computer and wiring it would be plug and play. I’m planning on putting headers on as well and changing exhaust.
I really don’t want to get into something where I have to swap wiring harnesses, computer, and tons of dickin around that way. But I do want more HP and torque over that stock L98.
