Alright so long story short. Bought a 1985 Corvette "barn find" a couple of weeks ago with the intention of filling my newly retired life with a project. As I stated it was a barn find and has been sitting for the last 12 years. So needless to say, all rubber materials are either nonexistent or crumbling like suspension components. I would like to know what you all think is the best approach to tackling replacement of bushings and ball joints etc. Suggestions on brands, kits, and cost. Honestly, any information is greatly ap Example 1 Example 2
preciated.
Looking forward to conversations.
🍻 cheers!
Yes! It definitely needs a good cleaning. I plan on doing that this weekend. Yes it runs and drives. Just dropped in a new battery and replaced the brake fluid last night. The engine and transmission are good to go which is why I decided to buy her in the first place.
I need to look into the the type of suspension. Not sure if it's the Z51 package or just a few Z51 components put on by the original owner. Its and automatic trans and to my understanding the Z51s were usually with the 4 speed Nash trans vettes.
Post an image of the SPID label found by lifting the rear compartment behind seats. Does the VIN on it match the windshield? Make run first after a clean up for sure. Spend what it takes to 'make run' first!
IHBD your were spot on. She has the Z51 suspension. So with that said. I've been looking for a good suspension or brand get. I keep finding kits with different diameters and sizes.which all claim to fit an 85 vetted. I don't want to pat too much nit want somewhat quality. Any suggestions?
