Hello, I was replacing the gauge cluster in my 89 convertible and found a pair of cut wires under the steering column. I'm assuming it would connect to the black wire I am also holding. The black wire appears to be a sheathing over a brown and a yellow wire. I have only had the car a few month and not noticed anything not working. What is this connection for? THANKS for any suggestions.
The black wire isn't associated with VATS. Where does it go? Does it disappear into a factory loom, or is it stand-alone to something like an old stealth radar detector, or something?
He said “The black wire appears to be a sheathing over a brown and yellow wire.”. I wonder if it doesn’t run up the column to the ignition cylinder. It sure looks like VATS. I’m with Dave on this one.
