C4 transmission cost
My 95 c4 transmission **** the bed and has to be rebuild. The mechanic I brought it to originally quoted me 5600 with labor for a jasper trans but there was no cores available and is rebuilding it in shop. Now the new price is 5k because he took the exhaust manifold off for some reason and broke the bolts.... is this reasonable or is he trying to rip me off. Thanks in advance
Ps i forgot to mention the warranty for his in house stuff is dramatically worse the the jasper trans. He only offers 12m 12k miles compared to the 100k 3y warranty with jasper

Unfortunately nothing is getting cheaper. But now is the wrong time to re-negotiate the cost. If you want the car back you'll have to pay the agreed price. A rebuild I had done on a '95 was maybe $1500 less, but it had to be done twice, and that was a couple years ago. There are much cheaper ways out with a used transmission, but you'd have to do the work yourself.

Auto or Manual? Manual, maybe, but I think I'd want a zf doc manual. If it's auto... Seems kinda high, but what is t. Tbh,if you don't have the time, space, or skills to swap it yourself... Kinda don't matter what the price is.

yah it's the auto, wanted a manual but couldn't find one in my price range at the time. only reason im skeptical with this shop is i took it there before it broke. It wasn't shifting into second they way I felt it should and they said it was fine. They put lube guarde I think is the name of the product in the trans and my temps were through the roof. I called them and asked if it was temporary and they said it's fine, I lost 3rd and 4rth like 20 mins later on my way home. Towed it in and apparently the pressure solenoid busted or somthing like that. Sorry for the long reply
