OK Hi! new here. bought a c-4 eng, 4+3 trans and all the wiring out of a bone yard. I want to put it in my and my son's '74 Nova. I have a little space under the hood so I'm going to use a centrifugal blower, build the motor up a little to a 383. maybe make 800 HP WOT.
the question is is the 4+3 strong enough to handle that power?????
The Borg Warner T10 4speed manual transmission is a fairly strong transmission but the Doug Nash overdrive unit is not when it comes to something with 800 horsepower. I don't think the stock T10 could withstand 800 horsepower either. Also, the T10 from the Corvette does not accept a conventional shift lever from the top of of transmission, rather it uses two rods to actuate shifting from the side of the case. May be an issue if your Nova is not set up for that.

I've got the shifting worked out for location and height. the shifter in the vette mounts in the BODY tunnel so I'll have to fab up a mount anyway. It looks like it will work fine with the bench seat in the car. it's the HP i'm concerned with. If additional posts come in like this I'll stick with the 700R4 and beef it up for the HP.
There should be way better options for the transmission of choice if used in the Nova. Resale of the 4+3 in questionable condition is likely not good either. What year did you buy?
Super T-10's were found in old 60s and 70s Camaros, Firebirds and Corvettes. You can check out aftermarket shifters for those cars instead of fabricating up something that would be inferior to the originals anyway. If you were gentle on the OD unit, it may serve you well, but no shifting into or out of OD under power. I have my actuator on a proximity sensor at the shifter so it only works in 4th gear. It's safest that way.
This can't be correct! 1987 maybe? Did you get the ECM (would have been under dash right side) and have had a grommet through the firewall for the harness. Check closely what you've purchased.
