1990 transmission

Having issues with my transmission needs replaced was told by shop only 89-90 models will fit any truth to this? Thanks

Depends on whether it is auto or manual. You don't state this valuable information, or the year you are putting it into. Proper information is always a good thing. Auto - no truth. Manual - don't know. The manual experts will have to tell you.
