Previous owner replaced mufflers. One side has crappy “expand pipe to allow adjustment” then weld. I have no torch and my grinder can’t fit all the way around pipe. Been grinding and cutting around bottom. Any suggestions on how to cut and grind in top? Also best way to smooth weld bead?
numerous reasons not listed here why job being done at home, no choice
sawsall, 4” grinder, numatic cut off tool and chisel, hammer, plyers and some unintended bleeding later. wooden wedge between diff and pipe made reach better

Bottom line - new pipes went on smooth as butter. the old pipe was marked to show how far new pipe should come down. Put exhaust clamp medium tight about 4" from end and tapped clamp with hammer to move it into place. Straightened pipes and tightened clamps. No leaks and sounds great.
