93 Shift Boot Install Misalignment
I bought a new upper console shift plate to replace the aging one in my 93. The new part came in and looked nice. I transfered over all of the parts necessary onto the new shift plate and when it came time to transfer the shift boot, I noticed that the rear most holes on the new plate did not line up with the original shift boot. The front holes were perfect. I contacted the seller of the item and he stated that the holes may not line up and that modifications have to be made to make it work. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and how they solved it. Also wondering if anyone has a part number for the press on nuts for the shift boot mounting screws. Here are a couple pictures of what I'm dealing with.

I've had 2 for my '96 from Corvette Central. The finish on them dont hold up worth a damn, but there were no alignment issues with the shift boot mounts. They list the same shift boot for 90-96, so the spacing should be the same for all the consoles.
I agree with you that the finish is sub-par. It seems like cheaper plastic. I'm considering buying a set of on-serts and refinishing my original console. I remember guys stripping off the rubberized coating and cleaning their original console trim. I'm considering going that route.
