Default Rub rail

84, removed it, not fitting well. Past owner painted car and when replaced rub rail on drivers door has both clips and double side dense foam tape on car and rail. Is this factory method of attaching? I don't think the foam is. Maybe clips not working, they are unusual. Think tape holds rail from being tight to car. Can't seem to find new clips if that is issue!, or is it both.

On the door, its a nut on both ends, then just clips built into the piece. No foam or anything else was there [at least not on mine]...clips are a separate piece that not available to my knowledge. I replaced all the pieces on my 88 as the original ones were warped and crap.

Default 84 rub rail

Thanks, that's what I thought, could not find a breakdown Pic of the rail. Mine in good shape but had gap, probably from foam. If clips alone don't hold will get a new rail.
