Default Motor mounts

Can you change the engine mounts on the frame without pulling the engine or separating from the trans. Everything is disconnected its just the engine block without heads and all front mounted stuff is off. I can lift the engine with a hoist, is there enough room to slide new ones in.

Just did mine a few months ago. Replaced with poly as my new stock ones twisted....after the center bolt was removed on both sides (engine supported with hoist) you can get the 6 bolts out from the mounts and slide them out. I only lifted the engine slightly to do this. Be careful only go a little with this. Whole job took maybe 2 hours. Why 2 hours? Cause the K member has a nice pocket built into it that, oh I dunno, you drop a bolt into and its a PITA to get it out! Have a small magnet ready for when this happens....but seriously its not bad to do.

Can you just pull the long horizontal bolt out holding the engine to the frame mount, then from under neath pull the nut off the stud, raise the engine and slip the frame side mount out or does the bracket have to be unbolted from the block.

Not sure exactly what you mean by frame side bracket..the motor mount has 3 bolts that hold it to block, then long bolt is just through frame. I dont have pictures from mine, but if you look at my thread under the c4 general entitled "just for the hell of it" and go to last page and I believe I posted some pictures about it..

Yes, pull the center bolt and the k member nut, lift the motor a little and slide the mount out. Have fun.
