Radio Reception
Quick, hopefully easy, question: Last summer I had a new ApplePlay unit installed in my 92 and am very happy with the unit, BUT, the reception is absolutely terrible! I get two channels and they are very staticy. The previous unit that was in the car when I bought it was the same way. Could it be the antenna? Don't want to spend the money on a new one if I don't need to.

It could well be the antenna but also the connectors that possibly aren't seated properly or have corrosion. I believe there is a connector just upstream from the antenna mast that could possibly be the culprit. That both head units have the same issue leads me to believe there is a problem with the cable or the antenna itself.

I have the problem where reception is fantastic if the key is in accesory position. When the key is turned to run position, reception is horrible. The only station you can hear is local and even that is poor. This is with CD the original and a replacement antenna.
