Hi all,
looking for a new radiator for my 86 corvette. The car is an automatic transmission and has oil cooler if that makes a difference? Does anyone have any advice for a direct fit replacement radiator?
Also, my engine is an L98 with a .030 over block, larger cam, ported and polished intakes, long tube headers, air pump delete, milled heads from 76cc to 68cc combustion chambers and larger throttle body.
How large can I go on my fuel injectors?
Thanks
I got one for my 86 from O'Reillys. Reasonable and it dropped right in with no issues at all.
Yeah, I'd agree and suggest you keep it a stock OE replacement. I just put in a OE replacement on my 91 ZR1 after a tough time with an after market brand. The OE dropped in and connected with no difficulties.
Unless you foresee a heavy cooling issue, I'd keep it simple.
Report back on what you chose, I have an '86 and love to compile a list of things I will probably have to do someday and already know what worked well. Good luck!
I put a DeWitts in my auto 87'...Fit right in, didn't even have to trim the rubber bumpers...it's a direct bolt-in as advertised. Comes with a hefty price tag though. I also installed a Flow Kooler water pump ($145)
If you don't mind me butting in. I'm in need of a radiaror for my 1990. I deciced on the Champion but not sure to get the 2 or 3 row design. Is the 3 row overkill ? The price difference is about $45.

It's worth the $45 for sure, def not overkill (not at that price). I'm still a little confused because the Champions made in China??? the parent company (American Eagle) rads are made in America but not the Champions??? Well, according to google anyways. This was my takeaway when researching a couple years ago because I just didn't want to spend the $$$ on a DeWitts...ended up with the DeWitts for piece of mind.
Take a look below, directly from the Champion Cooling Website....it never says "Made in America"..it says "Americas BEST aluminum radiator company" and "designed and engineered inhouse"...but doesnt say anywhere on their pop-up that it's made in AMERICA (their best place to plug American Made). It does say that they will custom make one but again, it's not clear it just says "our location"...they have an american engineering and design location and (possibly) an overseas manufacturing location???
they just arent very clear, I see absolutely NOTHING that is bold and jumps right out to say MADE IN THE USA
I want to be clear on my stance...I'm not bashing the Champion radiator, I'm sure it's a fine unit BUT I don't think its american made like the verbiage tries to imply.
The second disclaimer on their website simply says "Providing high end aluminum radiators..." Champion Cooling Systems (see for yourself)
Mark, thank you for responding. Well I found Chanpion themselves were selling the 3 row radiator for my Corvette on Ebay for $241.72 with free shipping so I bought it. It will be awhile but i'll let you know how it works out. As far as made in China, what isn't these days.

How did the install of the Champion go? Any modifications needed? Did you buy their dual fan setup to or stick with the factory fan setup?
