Default Fuel Pump Strainer

I'm replacing the fuel pump and sending unit in my '87 and I'm just wondering if there's any small trick about keeping the (new) strainer on the (new) pump. It simply doesn't seem to be on all that securely. Don't want it falling off inside the tank. I see little nodes in the metal neck of the strainer but no matching dots or anything that might be a contact point. I suppose I'm overthinking this but.;..would a drop of adhesive (what kind?) be called for?

Are you sure you have it on the whole way? The "nodes" on the strainer just grip the neck on the pump inlet. I have found they take a fair amount of effort to put on.

Gas will probably render any adhesive ineffective. Try another strainer, you might just have a bad match with your pump.

Thanks for the replies. It is just not secure on it. It came with the pump and assembly so "should" match but... I agree about the adhesive and gasoline but I may try a teeny tiny drop of JB Weld epoxy to hold it on long enough to get it into the "trough". After that...???

Does yours have the little metal bumps in the connector to clip it on? Dan EDIT: These are what RUU called "nodes".

i just did mine on my '85 - it took a little extra push to get it on - but it did stay - it took a little to get it off - i tried to make sure I had it on there pretty well - no adhesive though
