Hi all, earlier today I was pulling my ‘94 into my driveway and the brake pedal felt very loose and I checked and one of the brake lines by the rear driver’s side wheel is leaking. I have a shop I trust about 15 mins from my house so I don’t know if I should try to risk driving it there or calling a tow truck. I’ve heard horror stories about tow trucks with corvettes so I really don’t want to call one if I don’t have to. Does anyone have any suggestions or know if there is a patch I can put on the line to get me to the shop? Thanks in advance.
Doable yet unwise. And if anything happens you're also liable. There are no patches that will work..
Having said that, I guess it all depends also on where you live and how experienced you are. Handbrake sort of works as a mechanical backup and the leaking brakeline can be clamped with e.g visegrips. Small town with quiet roads early in the morning or very late - it's been done.
30 years ago I nursed a '63 without brakes across the town with a few traffic lights and some traffic. We survived without a scratch and I will never do it again.
