I removed my stock 1990 ZR-1 steering wheel ( with air bag ) and replaced it with a Sparco and hub adapter kit.
After awhile I came up with this design and had it cut on a water jet and mounted on the Sparco hub kit. The handles came from a knife company , horn buttons are installed into the back of the handles by hollowing out the back side to hide the horn wires. I do not auto course or road race, but I drag race from time to time. Drive on the street all the time having no trouble with steering.
As far as quick release steering wheels there are a few company's that make them, most have adapters to allow you to install them on corvette steering columns.
quick release allow you to have more room to get in and out of your car.
Hey just have fun what ever you do

I did it. Pretty easy. I used the low profile one, ended up being a little too low profile and the wheel would hit the turn signals. Good thing use of those is banned here in FL. Taking off the wheel does give you a little extra space, but I dunno how useful it would be. It does however, let you run a nicer steering wheel, which is very much worth it.
