Default AC condenser

Hi all. I have an ‘84 corvette. There was a mud wasp nest on my AC condenser. I used a pressure washer to try and get it off, so it did get wet. Is that okay? Could I have messed anything up? There’s still some residue on there from the nest. Should I get a new AC condenser? Should I get a new radiator too? I think my radiator is still stock. Coolant temperature reads at about 210° in mid 80° weather.

With or without the nest it should not make a difference. Total area blocked was small. Most of us probably have leaves blocking more area in-between the two heat exchangers. Pressure washing also should suffice. Residue probably saliva enzyme and dirt which is not corrosive enough to do any functional damage. 210 all day long is more than great.

Cheers,

Its too late now but i would have suggested simply breaking it off by hand then hitting it with a medium stiff brush then rinsing w low pressure water. High pressure could collapse some of the blades (whatever theyre called) and block air flow. But, if it looks like theyre all still open and straight youre good. .

That’s what I probably should have done. Live and learn I guess. Here’s what it looks like now:

There is a cheap plastic tool called a fin comb that will easily straighten out those fins. It will also clean some of that residue off.

Ah ok. Will have to get one. Do you think it’s something I need to urgently do or is it fine to leave the fins crooked for a little bit?

Depends on how often you use your AC. That small area wont matter. But itd be best overall to get all the cooling capacity back that you can.

Once you get it as clean you can, put something on the backside and tap it woth some flat black rattle can paint.
