I've been daily driving the 95 while my truck is getting painted and a recent development is the passenger door began making a different sound when closing. Looks like the front top corner of the window is hitting the triangular metal trim at the junction of the windshield and targa top when the door closes. The back of the window looks out of position too. Is there a common failure in the window adjustment hardware that causes this or just something that has come loose and out of adjustment? The door itself has no play in the hinge bushings.
there is a plastic guide that rides on the widow track to keep the window where it needs to be. yours broke. it wont be a fun job to replace it. that is why you never close the door by the glass
Unfortunately, the plastic guides at the bottom of the window have broken. In your case the rear one so the window slightly tilts rearward. My '94 is experiencing the same situation with both windows and I've been putting it off because after reading and viewing countless posts, this is not a fun project. For now, just don't use that passenger door if it's possible.
i had the same problem with the passenger door window, had to remove the window from the door to get the old guide off the glass because someone used too much thread lock on the bolt. A replaced guide fixed the problem. door sounds much better now too.
