I bought an aluminum aftermarket radiator for my84 vette project. It has this fitting below the upper transmission fitting. It has a mushroom head on it, almost looks like one side of a union fitting.
Does anyone know what this is supposed to be hooked up too?
Is there a plug or cap type fitting I can get?
I rigged a cap on it with a hose clamp, but it blew out.

The radiator you bought is likely a multi-year fit and that would be the location for the low coolant level sensor for the years that utilized that. If you search eBay for a GM# 10054615 you'll get a several very good images of what it looks like. You shouldn't need to pay the eBay prices for one to just plug your orifice.
I have the DeWitt radiator I believe in my 88. I bought one of those sensors, installed it and never had an issue. I dont have the sensor hooked up, its just a plug. But been there for 6 years now. I tried other caps as well, and nothing fit good.
