Hello everybody!! I have recently acquired a 1992 6-speed black-on-black C4 which I am absolutely in love with. However, the Bose sound system is completely shot and I would like to do a complete replacement. I have been scouring this forum for a few days getting as much information as I could and believe to have a parts list on Crutchfield that would suffice. I would appreciate any feedback on these choices, how they might sound, if I could get a better sound for the same price, and if I am missing anything for this to work. I'd also love some input on if two 8" subwoofers would sound better than the 6 1/2" rear speakers. FYI, this is my first time doing anything with audio so I'm second-guessing all my choices. Thanks for any help!!!
Head Unit - Kenwood Excelon DMX709S - 399.99 + Crutchfield ReadyHarness Service 24.99
Amp - JL Audio JD400/4 - 279.99 (Side note - no clue where I would place this. Maybe under or behind a seat, or in the storage bin? Could use some help here too.)
Front Kick Panel Speakers - Kicker 46CSC54 (5 1/4" 2-way) - 76.96
Rear Speakers - Kicker 46CSC654 ( 6 1/2" 2-way) - 76.96
Metra 00-3051 Dash Kit and Metra 70-1857 Bypass Harness - included
18 Guage Speaker Wire + 4-gauge amp wiring kit - 70
Total Cost = 928.88
TLDR;
Am I missing anything from the above parts list to do a complete sound system replacement?
How could I improve the above parts list for a similar price?
Buy good speakers. Heavier magnet will give more/gooder bass. 18guage seems a but thin on the speaker wire. If that was for the remote amp turn on, then it is fine for that job.

Gotcha, it was what Crutchfield recommended. Think 14 Guage would be better for the longer runs? And do you think those Kicker speakers are sufficient or go better than those?
