Hey there, I know this has been discussed but a search didn't bring up what I was looking for.
I am replacing driver side window lift motor. Remanu. motor, cleaned up regulator/lubed.
Question: I can not figure out how to get the O.E. rivit drilled out/new attachment bolt (not riveting) installed in one spot closest to the gear. What position does that regulator have to be in to get access with the regulator out of the car. Bout ready to drill a potentially compromising hole in the track. (not the gear)
either the track or the gear is in the way, or both
I know when I owned 1989 Corvette and my window motor failed I was told cause of the rivets it's better to replace the complete regulator cause it comes with motor has complete assembly.
I also learned they are special tools to remove the assembly and new one came with hardware needed to replace new.
I now understand why, when the tech from the glass company broke off bolt, glad we had new ones.
I would say others might have just replaced the motor, that could help you out.
Finished removing both sides window regulators, replaced driver side motor and cleaned/lubed everything. If anyone is attempting this procedure connect and I can give some pointers. we were in a time crunch and I did not document.

Good for you, hope you can give pointers out if someone ever has this same problem!
