I purchased a 92 6 speed project a little over a year ago...It needed a lot of love !! It did run when purchased. The steering column needed tilt pins so I decided to replace everything in the column while it was out of the car.I tested the key at approximately 8 ohms in preparation for the lock cylinder replacement...Bad news is the key has disappeared into the bowels of my shop.I ordered a new chip key at what I thought was the correct ohm value. No action at the starter.. Swapped out the working original ignition switch. Still nothing. Ops check of the starter was good. Jumped the clutch neutral safety switch.Nothing. Ordered a VATS interrogater and still nothing. Dealer is unable to help as it was never registered in my name as it was undriveable when I bought it...Any ideas would be SO appreciated !!! Thanks...

Nothing says the key you originally had was the correct code.
You need to use the work key with the interrogator and pay attention to the time out resets in between tries. What you are looking for is the security light on the dash to go out with the correct resistance. Once you have that, then it sounds like you might be working on an additional problem in the starting procedure.
I believe that the 3 minute delays are only valid for 4 tries in a 60 minute period, attempts after those 4 should require I believe a 10 minute delay. I had a friend who believed starting at 7 or 8 and then going up one then down one would get him results faster. 8 - 9 - 7 - 10 - 6 - 11 - 5 - 12 - 4 - 13 - 3 - 14 - 2 - 15.
Don't worry about 1
He always waited 15 minutes each attempt.
Just 1 'KEY ON' each attempt.
**** Get the car REGISTERED and provide the dealer with the information again and see what happens. If you know a 'locksmith' some may NOT require a registration etc.
